The Jamaican sports fanatics are still bewildered by the decision to axe the man dubbed the Professor after consecutive losses away to bothe Mexico and Honduras, but was that the answer to the problem of an under-achieving football team. Many on the other hand while shocked at Simoes' departure are not at all flustered as they stil consider the coaching talents of Theodore 'Tappa' Whitmore to be very competent. Prior to Simoes' appointment, it wa sthe magic touch of Whitmore as coach that captivated many at the National Stadium. Whitmore dubbed the Magician both locally and internationally whist still a player, seemd to have transcended that kind of flare to his coaching style. His ability to pick the right team and instill inthem some sort of philosophy made for soem attractive football and the type reminiscent a young Brazil team. The magic and trickery though had to stop as a more scientific approach was adopted by the Professor who immediately fell out of terms with Marlon King. King has been Jamaica's most prolfic striker in recent times with almost a goal a game average and yet he could not find favor with Simoes. What is ironic however is the fact just after the losses incurred in which not a single goal was scored, the outcasted King turned up for a similar strength team to score two goals to beat a similar strenth team to that of Mexico and Honduras. Now that schools out and the profesor is gone home, i think it is high time for the King to play and enjoy the tricks of the MAgician. He will no doubt be part of Whitmore's plans and somebody needs to retire Deon Burton and for the love of God, will somebody find Claude Davis or Damion Stewart? Maybe now also, soembody will pay attention to the work being done by a certan Dane Richards who performed so well for Whitmore prior to Simoes' arrival and yet no call up despite wanting so bad to represent the country.
